I finished Survive the Night last night, and I do not know if I will ever recover.
It took a lil bit to pick up, but it was SURPRISING AF.
Threw me off. Was not what I was expecting. Characters were lovable and heartbreaking. And I still have questions. And I’ve rewritten the ending ten times in my head to something that hurts less.
As far as horror books go, I’m not usually interested. But this one got me!!!
Here’s the description:
Just back from rehab, Casey regrets letting her friends Shana, Julie, and Aya talk her into coming to Survive the Night, an all-night, underground rave in a New York City subway tunnel. Surrounded by frightening drugs and menacing strangers, Casey doesn’t think Survive the Night could get any worse…

I have so many more feelings about this.
Towards the end, I haaaated how Casey was blaming herself. Yes, she did do drugs, but that’s a slippery slope and she did do rehab and was trying to do better. She loved her friends and thought they loved her. But it got so blamey. Yuck. Just let her recover in peace.
SAM WAS KIND OF OKAY. The Shana thing was a serious mistake, he did try to tell her, he suffered the worst night of his life with Casey, he also made mistakes, he tried to tell Casey, I’m so sad that she was so cold to him after wanting him so bad. I def understand her feelings, boys are garbage, but c’mon Case he tried to teeeeelllll yooooou. And he’s being here for you now. Then he died.
Woody, RIP man.
Julie and Aya.. were just kind of there? Not really noteable, put in the story to die, I kept mixing up who was who. I guess some friends had to die but I feel sad for them because it felt like they were just extras.
No one checked the sewers for bodies?

I want to start a new book but I don’t know if I’m ready at this point, I’m still fucking shook over Sam. I WISH him and Shana made it out. But I guess there never would have been a mystery over if tentacles or Shana went on the killing spree. I think it was Shana. Bc what??? Tentacle Monsters? That Can Control You? No Casey, Shana drugged you lol
Anyway, if you read it, I hope you enjoyed me going off about it. I’m sad there isn’t more story for me to read tonight 😥
