IT’S TIME to talk about one cosplayer that continues to inspire me every day – Moth Child Cosplay And Creations. She genuinely puts more love and work into everything she does than anyone I know and her progress posts give me life. Her irl name is Haley & I first noticed her when she won Best in Show at Fall Saratoga Comic Con 2016. I recently judged the Saratoga Comic Con contest alongside her and she was nothing but encouraging, kind and passionate about the work she does and the commitment other people put into their cosplays. HONESTLY I’M FANGIRLING but she is really incredible & I strive to be as cool as her. Haley answered a few questions for us, so you can get to know her & if you’re into it, give her page a like and follow her work. It’s worth it.

1. How Long Have You Been Cosplaying?
I’ve been cosplaying since October of 2014!
2.Why do you Cosplay?
I cosplay for the challenge of making crazy outfits and to really show my love for a character/franchise
3. Is cosplay something you plan on doing for the rest of your life, or is it just a fun hobby for now?
I’m not sure if I’ll be doing it for my entire life, but I enjoy it enough that I could definitely see myself doing it for as long as I live.
4. What was your first convention?
My first convention was Banzaicon in Columbia, SC in October of 2014
5. Do you ever have to deal with negative feedback towards your cosplays, and if so, how do you deal with it?
Occasionally I’ll get negative feedback, but I’m incredibly lucky since most of my feedback is constructive criticism and not just people looking to drag me down.
6. When people tell you they love your cosplays, how do you respond?
Every. Single. Time. I get this big, silly grin on my face. I love it so much! While I cosplay for myself, knowing others enjoy my hobby is just wonderful.

7. What’s the most recent convention you’ve attended? Rate the experience?
Chasecon! I’d rate it at a nice 7. It had a lot of wonderful dealers and helping judge he contest was a blast. I do wish there were more panels but I’m not sure if they have the space for it.
8. What’s your least favorite part of cosplaying?
My least favorite part of cosplay is that moment where you’ve been wearing a costume for hours and are driving home tired, in pain, and ready to rip the outfit off. There’s something about driving home in costume that just makes the ride so much longer!

9. Favorite part of cosplaying?
My favorite part of cosplaying is definitely the making of process!
10. Do you tend to stay in character in your cosplays?
It depends. For adults I’ll break character and just have fun. But if I’m doing a Disney princess or another child-friendly character I’ll do my best to stay in character for a kid.

11. Do you cosplay outside of conventions?
I cosplay for photoshoots! And sometimes my work will have costume events that I’ll dress up for. But that’s about it.
12. What’s the cosplay you’ve worked hardest on?
My Knight’s Garb from Bloodborne! I spent close to 70 hrs hand embroidering details on and there are over 25 yds of bias tape applied. AND it’s fully lined!
13. Easiest cosplay to make?
My easiest cosplay is probably my Holo from Spice and Wolf. She was one of my first cosplays and, while she didn’t seem it at the time, she’s definitely the easiest!
14. Have you ever entered any contests/do you hope to?
I enter contests at almost all conventions I go to! So far I’ve entered 7 contests and have won awards at 6 of them which is awesome to me.
15. Next Convention?
My next convention is Connecticon in July. I’m crazy excited since I’m entering the contest there as well!

HOPE YOU ENJOYED, CHECK OUT HER PAGE AND MAYBE YOU’LL SEE HER (AND ME) AT CONNECTICON 2017!!
