IT’S VALENTINE’S DAY. Or at least it was a few days ago, or like a week ago or whatever. Let me tell you about the most pure manga I have ever read. My Love Story is the story of Takeo Goda and his new found love, Yamato. Takeo is the sweetest dude on EARTH but has been shot down by girls before because of his goofy appearance. He has a best friend, Suna, who is unbearably attractive but constantly turns down girls.
Yamato is sweet, adorable and loves baking. Her and Takeo fall in love ~ That’s it. That’s the story. I love reading this, because it’s drama-free, it’s a constant feel-good story, and shit, it’s just cute. When’s the last time ANY love story was drama free? AND EVERY CHARACTER IS LIKEABLE.
Without drama, how does My Love Story stay interesting? Idk. It’s just good. Like a good, wholesome relationship. You’re just happy so you stay interested. It’s really good.
Of course there are some twists and turns, but never anything wildly dramatic and no betrayal. A story you can stay interested in guilt-free! I love it! Manga of the century tbh. Don’t get me wrong, I love reading a good love-triangle manga (Peach Girl) but it’s just been really refreshing to read something pure and good.
Yamato’s baking and outfits are just adorable. All the art is adorable. Every character is a cutie. AND THEY’RE ALL FUNNY TOO. I have nothing but good things to say about these books. I gotta’ watch the anime.
And, if you’re interested in reading this good wholesome tale, the manga is really inexpensive on amazon. An affordable happy story. Everyone wins.
I’m not usually a fan of romance, but I really enjoyed the Ore Monogatari anime. Lots of moments that make you laugh and say awww. I hear that the manga ended a few months ago. Maybe I will pick up those inexpensive Amazon volumes to see the stories the studio didn’t adapt.
