anime news that I am excited about, and you also might be

I am really, really into old 90’s anime. Don’t get me wrong, I love new anime too, I’m weeb as hell, but 90’s anime gives me life. The animation styles are just different, grittier, I love it, ugh. Also, even 20 years later, the stories feel fresh and exciting and new every time I read them, and that’s especially the case with Cardcaptor Sakura.

Why am I bringing up Cardcaptor Sakura? Because beautiful writing team CLAMP is blessing us with more Cardcaptor Sakura manga this year. WILD. It won’t be a full series, (sadface) but it will be new stuff and not a reboot. Will it be in the future? Sakura as an adult? Will it tie together Cardcaptor Sakura and Tsubasa Chronicles (please maybe no on that one)? GAJDHUAAUHAFJ I’M SO EXCITED. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Cardcaptor Sakura, and she’s been getting a lot of merch and stuff lately which I’m also wild about.

Now that we’ve covered that, what else is old as hell and coming back?

TENCHI MUYO. Bet you didn’t see that one coming. WITH ORIGINAL VOICE ACTORS for Tenchi, Aeka and Ryoko (my original waifu, *drool*) New Tenchi anime after all this time?!!? Thank you anime gods. I guess we’ll hear more about this in the fall.
