So I Finally Watched The Live Action Jem And The Holograms

I am probably one of like, 10 people that spent money watching the live action Jem and the Holograms. I spent $1.60 renting it from Redbox. As far as movies go, I didn’t hate it. I hate that they didn’t just make a whole new story all together instead of using the Jem name. I get that they probably used the name because it’s something recognizable but I feel like that’s probably what killed it. A Jem movie could have been SO GOOD if they did it right. It was just too different for older fans to enjoy.

I didn’t have the WORST time.

but yeah why the heck did they use the Jem name? They could have just made a whole new story with new characters and marketed it to preteens. It probably would have been better off that way.

The original Jem sound was GLAMOUROUS (or… outrageous) and I’m not saying the actress didn’t have a nice voice. She had a lovely singing voice, but nothing like the iconic Jem sound.

OG JEM SAMANTHA NEWARK IS A GODDESS.

okay yeah, the fashion in the movie was on point. at least they had the wardrobe right.

Yep. I’d say sorry for spoiling the hottest part, but you’re probably not going to watch it.

THE GLITTER WAS EVERYWHERE AND IT WAS GREAT.

The sequel they hinted at when they had high hopes looked so much better than this movie. I want to watch Pizzazz Kesha threaten tiny Aubrey Peebles Jem with murder in 20 different ways while singing catchy but terrible songs.

Okay, so a quick recap. Things I liked:

Glitter.

Fashion.

Kesha.

Chris Pratt.

Oh and I really liked the use of people’s YouTube videos in the movie. It was cute. I like watching strangers sing.

Things I disliked:

SYNERGY WAS A DUMB ROBOT AND NOT A FASHIONABLE HOLOGRAM

??? I wasn’t cast as Jem.

It was just too dang different from the original Jem. Too. Dang. Different.

Oh and Jem’s hair wasn’t big enough at all, damn.

Okay!!! That’s enough about that! Thanks for reading!!!
